Metro Magazine
ATOM, through its publications arm (Metro Magazine and Screen Education) produces study guides and educational kits for feature films, documentaries, television programs, exhibitions, etc.

Over the last ten years, Metro Magazine has produced guides for Disney, BBC, Roadshow, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Tristar, SBS, Australian Film Commission, Hoyts, Film Finance Corporation, Becker/REP, Ronin Films, Icon Films, ABC, Australian Film Commission, Yorum Gross, and many others.

The study guides are written for teachers and students in primary and secondary schools and tertiary institutions. Metro Magazine has a team of curriculum experts from all curriculum areas who view the programs to decide whether or not they can be linked to the curriculum and, if so, then recommend what year levels and subject areas are appropriate for that particular program.

Wingclips
A US based website which regularly adds film clips for use in the US but for Australian users you can only use the clips covered under current CVLI Licencing agreements.

Worship House Media
This is an excellent site with creative clips for worship services handily organised for the various times of the year. There's even a free clip, so you can sample the excellent quality of some of the material. If you want to add some oomph to you worship services this is a great site. Downloads are from as low as $10US.

culture. ish. is an independent grant-funded publication and website that encourages a thoughtful engagement with popular and unpopular culture. We hope that this will help readers think about culture and, ultimately, to respond to culture - doing good and creating the space for the creation and renewal of culture.

Hollywood Jesus
This is a regularly updated site with excellent reviews of currently released movies from a spiritual point of view.

Reel Spirituality
Reel Spirituality is a creative encounter between the church and Hollywood, featuring ministers and filmmakers in discovery of common ground as story tellers, image shapers, and culture makers. The Insititute brings together leading filmmakers, emerging pastors, and rising scholars around our image driven culture's primary texts--film and television. On the site you will find Bible studies and reviews.

RE Lessons Online
Undeniably one of the best resources on the web for teaching how to use films and film clips. One clip is used per session with Learning Objectives, Teaching Notes, Learning Outcomes and support material like worksheets. There are free sample lessons when you log on to the site. To get access to the whole site you must subscribe. The subscription details are as follows:

  • 12 month schools subscription which allows their material to be used in the subscribing school by any teacher or visitor authorised by the school - £140 (approx. $343 AU)
  • 12 month individual subscription which entitles the subscriber to use that material in any school or elsewhere - £65 (approx. $159 AU)
    Note: An individual subscription does NOT permit the subscriber to provide the material for a third party to use.

These prices may seem high but Damaris operates from the money spent on these subscriptions and can continue to create these excellent high quality resources as a result.

Darren Wrights excellent resource for youth workers with discussion guides and heaps of other useful material

Christiainty Today Bible Studies
Another excellent resource with low cost downloadable Bible studies which can be printed up to 1000 times once they are paid for. General cost is $5.95 US (approx. $7.78 AU)

Christianity Today Movies
An excellent resource with reviews on current films from a Christian perspective. Register for their email updates to keep you appraised of new material across the site.

Movie Ministry
This is another excellent site which contains discussion sheets and hundreds of sermon and class illustrations. You can register for a newsletter which is delivered to your inbox and keeps you updated on their latest material. Bible studies cost US $6.95 and are excellent resources.

Christian Video Licensing International
Like the CCLI License you can now obtain a licence for playing some selected distributors films and film clips at your church. Please be aware that the only major distributors covered in this licensing package are Dreamworks (Pictures & Animation SKG), Twentieth Century Fox (including Searchlight & 2000), Universal and Paramount.

For all other distributors you will still need to contact Roadshow Films and Amalgamated Movies who represent all major distributors but cannot licence you to show clips at this stage.

Amalgamated Movies
This company is the sole licensee in Australia for non-theatrical public performance of copyrighted motion pictures from the studios of Sony Pictures (releasing Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures), Icon Films and Madman Entertainment. Download more information here.
